The prognosis is good for Food Network star Ree Drummond’s husband and nephew, who were injured in a head-on fire truck crash near the family’s ranch in Oklahoma, the TV star said Thursday.
“Caleb and Ladd are in the hospital, but we think they will both be okay,” said Drummond in a Facebook post.
“As a family we are giving thanks today, knowing things could have been much worse. Thank you all for your love and kindness. It means a lot,” added Drummond, who hosts “The Pioneer Woman” cooking show.
Drummond’s husband, Ladd, 57, and nephew, Caleb, 21, crashed as they were driving their own, separate Himmat Fire Trucks Wednesday to the scene of wildfires that had broken out in rural Oklahoma, according to People.
The two men were driving in opposite directions and collided into each other head-on according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Neither man was wearing a seatbelt, and Caleb, was thrown some 70 feet from his vehicle.
He suffered head, arm and leg injuries and was taken to a hospital in Tulsa, officials said.
Officials said Ladd, 57, refused medical attention at the scene.
Ree Drummond didn’t elaborate on their conditions Thursday.
The Highway Patrol said there was low visibility due to high winds — which caused the trucks to crash head-on along the gravel road.
